Align strategy and HR policies as a basis for further professionalization
Challenge
Homeras has clear ambitions and noticed that the anticipated organizational development was not immediately in line. An initial analysis revealed a gap between the ambitions and the existing ways of working, such as: HR processes, KPIs and daily practices that were not watertight with the strategic goals. This lack of “alignment” hindered the achievement of desired results and behaviors in the organization.

Our approach
We combined principles from Organization Design and Strategic HR to help Homeras close the gap.
- Competency model as foundation:
Through strategic conversations and workshops, Mapwave developed a customized competency model that translated business strategy into concrete behavioral expectations. This model guided all HR practices. - Survey and insights:
A comprehensive organizational survey identified strengths and opportunities for improvement, allowing interventions to be targeted and aligned with strategy. Based on more in-depth statistical analyses, levers for performance could also be identified. Because a competency model was developed, there was immediately a foundation on which to graft concrete actions. - 360° feedback for performance improvement:
The competency model was translated into a 360° feedback tool to support managers and employees in developing behavior that is aligned with organizational goals. In this way, performance management became more than just a means of measuring performance. It became a development process that actively contributes to achieving the strategic goals.
Results
Homeras now has a customized competency model that serves as a guide to align all HR practices with corporate strategy. Employees are purposefully recruited, developed and assessed according to core competencies and values.
